She argues that a key to understand the effects of diversity on group functioning is to focus on diversity perceptions and identify the way in which people construe diversity.

Dr. Carmen Binnewies is currently junior professor for occupational health psychology at the University of Mainz. She received her diploma degree from the Technical University of Braunschweig and her PhD from the University of Konstanz. In 2009, she was a visiting research scholar at the Eli Broad College of Business at the Michigan State University.
