Organization

The kindergarten is organized and run by the parents. The parents elect a board consisting of three parents once a year during a general assembly. The board is responsible for finances, contact with the landlord (Jacobs University), and assigning jobs to individual parents who are required to contribute their time to our organization. The board oversees general staff development, including hiring. The daily work is organized by the teams and team leader. The statute of the kindergarten can be found here:

Hours of operation

The aim of our institution is to assist full-time working parents. Thus our opening hours are long and the annual closing times are kept to the minimum. Opening hours: 8 am - 4 pm or 9 am - 5 pm. On Fridays until 4 pm.

Winter break: one week over the Christmas/New Year period
Summer break: two weeks corresponding to the school holidays in Bremen and Niedersachsen; 
in 2012: August 6 - August 17 .

Our fees are as follows:

The aim of our institution is to assist full-time working parents. Thus our opening hours are long and the annual closing times are kept to the minimum.

Fees for the Jacobs Kids are 300 Euro/month (toddlers) or 330 Euro/month (kindergarten). Please note that these fees are independent of parents’ income. The fees cover a warm lunch (mostly organic food) and afternoon snack.

From August 2011 on, all children get breakfast within their groups. This is an extra 12 Euro/month.

Furthermore there is the Kids at Jacobs e.V. association fee (50 Euro/year) which must be paid by at least one parent of each child.
